The State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (SMNS) takes data protection seriously and attaches great importance to the protection of your personal rights. We comply with statutory data protection provisions and use technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data (name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, etc.) from unauthorized access, misuse, destruction, and loss. We strive to continuously improve our security measures in accordance with technological developments.
Your data may only be processed to the extent permitted by law or if your consent exists. As a public body of the state of Baden-Württemberg, we are subject to the European Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO) and the Baden-Württemberg State Data Protection Act (LDSG). As the operator of a website, we are also subject to the Telemedia Act (TMG).
We use your personal data only for the purpose for which it was collected (for example to answer inquiries, register for guided tours, send information or subscribe to the newsletter, participate in contests). This data will be deleted immediately following completion of the action. The data entered in the online form for the newsletter will be stored until permission is revoked. Your data will not be transferred to third parties without your express consent. All persons working for us are obliged to protect data confidentiality in accordance with § 6 LDSG. In addition, SMNS provides training to staff regarding data protection.
Every time a user accesses the website of the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart and every time a file is accessed, data about this action is temporarily stored and processed in a log file. This log is for internal systems-related and statistical purposes to improve our information services. At irregular intervals, the logged data are evaluated internally by employees of the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (Administration, Press Office), for instance the number of hits over the course of an exhibition. The evaluation is not user-related, meaning that the State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart does not create personal user profiles, even using pseudonyms (e.g. IP addresses). 8. Social networks
8.1. Facebook
The State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart operates a fan page on Facebook. The link to this Facebook page is marked on our homepage by the logo of the social network. When you access this Facebook page, your browser establishes a direct connection to the Facebook servers. Please note that Facebook’s data processing is outside the jurisdiction of the European Union. The State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart has no influence on the extent of the data collected by Facebook, nor on how the data are used by Facebook. Even if you are not a member of Facebook, there is still the possibility that Facebook will save your IP address.
